About this tour

The Salkantay Trek is considered one of the 25 best treks in the world by National Geographic. This 5-day route takes you through incredibly diverse landscapes: from glaciers and high-altitude lakes to tropical jungle. The highest point of the trek is Salkantay Pass at 4,650m, with impressive views of Mount Salkantay (6,271m), the second most important apu after Ausangate. You'll sleep in comfortable lodges or camps, enjoy delicious food prepared by our chef, and walk along pre-Inca trails until reaching Machu Picchu. FAQs

How difficult is the Salkantay Trek?
It's a high difficulty trek due to distance, the 4,650m pass, and terrain variety. We recommend good physical condition and 2-3 days acclimatization in Cusco before.
Can I do the trek without prior experience?
Yes, if you have good physical condition. You don't need trekking experience but you should be able to walk 6-8 hours per day on uneven terrain.
What's the difference between camping and lodge?
Standard tour includes camping. Lodges have additional cost but offer more comfort: beds, hot showers, and electricity. We can quote this option.
