Cusco - Abra Malaga - Santa Maria

Departure from Cusco at 7:00 AM. Drive to Abra Malaga (4,350m). Cycling equipment preparation. Epic 55km bike descent through different ecosystems: puna, cloud forest, and high jungle. Arrival in Santa Maria. Dinner and night in hostel.

Santa Maria - Santa Teresa

Breakfast. Optional rafting on the Urubamba River (optional, $30). 3-4 hour hike through jungle trails to Santa Teresa. Along the way, zipline option over the canyon (optional, $30). Arrival in Santa Teresa. Visit to Cocalmayo hot springs. Dinner and night in hostel.

Santa Teresa - Aguas Calientes

Early breakfast. Transfer to Hidroelectrica. 3-hour walk along the train tracks, following the Urubamba River with spectacular views of the canyon and jungle vegetation. Arrival in Aguas Calientes. Hostel check-in. Free afternoon to explore town. Machu Picchu briefing. Dinner and rest.

Machu Picchu - Cusco

Early wake up. Bus to Machu Picchu to see sunrise (optional) or breakfast and regular bus. 2.5-hour guided tour of the citadel. Free time to explore. Option to climb Huayna Picchu (book in advance). Descent to Aguas Calientes. Free lunch. Train to Ollantaytambo. Transport to Cusco. Approximate arrival: 9:00-10:00 PM.

You don't need to be an expert, but you must know how to ride a bike. The descent is on paved and dirt road, with some curves. If you don't feel comfortable, you can ride in the support vehicle.
Are rafting and zipline mandatory?
No, they're optional activities with additional cost ($30 each). If you don't want to do them, you can enjoy the scenery while the group participates.
